Vipers 13, Fahey 9 – Down 4-2 after one inning at Treadwell Park, the Vipers shook off the frigid temperature and scored five runs in the second and fifth innings en route to a 13-9 playoff victory. Richard Sandler scored three runs and made three defensive gems to lead the Vipers. Ben Stoller broke the game open with a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning. David Lucia knocked in two runs with a double and a single and Michael Allwein and Nicky Sajovic scored two runs each. For Fahey, David Gerics tripled and scored three runs. Chris Haylon and Luke Shearin scored two runs each. Ken Toll struck out five of the six batters he faced, shutting out the Vipers in the two innings he worked.

Vipers 11, O’Keefe 1 – Down 1-0 early, the Vipers exploded for 11 fourth-inning runs to put the game away. John Lebinski singled in David Lucia to tie the game and then Dan Aurelia whacked a massive bases-loaded double to deep left field to score two more. Ben Stoller and Michael Allwein each knocked in a run in the 12-batter inning and Lucia singled to drive in two others. Cody Gotthardt scored a run and made three nice catches in center field. For O’Keefe, Tyler Gibney singled in the first, moved up on a wild pitch and an error, and was driven in by a Pat Mullins single. Gibney also singled in the fourth for the team’s only other hit.

The Vipers and Base Technologies square off tonight (Friday) at 6 pm at Treadwell Park in a battle of two undefeated playoff teams. Another league playoff game will be held Saturday and the championship will follow on Sunday at Glander Field. First pitch in the championship is set for 12 noon and if the undefeated team playing in the championship loses, a second game for all the marbles will follow at 2:30 pm.

Thunder 8, Nighthawks 6 – Brennan O’Sullivan, Michael Stierle, Baxter Hankin and Christian Hoffman banged out two hits apiece to power the Thunder,  CJ Landgrebe pitched well in his debut and also had three hits. Akash Ahuja was the defensive star of the game and Brandon O’Sullivan had three hits including a triple. For the ‘Hawks, Michael Biancardi, Sean McCafferty and Bobby Lydon had impressive pitching debuts. Will Swain made a great defensive play at shortstop and went 3-for-3 with two runs scored.  Darryl Silverlieb and Michael Biancardi also banged out three hits apiece.

Big Red Machine 7, Bombers 6 – Patrick Berger was sharp on the mound, Joey Carrino and Kaj Djonne each doubled and had two hits and Sarah Lynch stroked a clutch two out single in the last inning to drive in the winning run for the Big Red Machine. For the Bombers, Malcolm Dance laced three hits to lead the offensive attack. Nate Dowd, Nick Nelson and Patrick Olah supported the Bomber effort with great defensive play.

Big Red Machine 10, Bombers 1 – Brendan Grant tripled, Emily Riley had two hits and Timmy Drotar banged three hits including a double and two runs scored to lead the Big Red Machine. For Bombers, Nate Dowd pitched lights out, striking out two and allowing no baserunners. Austin Huffman and Chad Horkachuck both chipped in with stellar defensive play.
