Winner Of Mustang Raffle Praises Newtown Lions Club

Leo Ubaldi of Oakville was the lucky winner of the classic 1966 Mustang raffled off on October 15 by the Newtown Lions Club. He said he bought his ticket because he was impressed by the club’s strong commitment to charities and community projects throughout Connecticut and the region.

“It’s a great organization and does lots of good works,” he said.

Mr Ubaldi was a supervisor for the Ansonia Copper Company before retiring and now is a part-time consultant. He bought the winning ticket at the Warren Fall Festival in early October.

The Lions displayed the car for six months at a variety of shows and fairs throughout Connecticut, New York, and Massachusetts. This year’s raffle was one of the most successful ever, according to John Kopins, chairman of the Raffle Committee.

The proceeds will be used for more than 40 community, state, national, and international charitable programs. The Lions have placed special focus on projects to help the visually impaired and on disaster relief programs.
