NYS Job Bank Members Recognized For Service

Mark Cinquegrana, a Newtown Youth Services (NYS) Job Bank Member for more than a year, was recently recognized as Job Bank Member of the Month of September. To receive this honor, a Job Bank member must accept and complete jobs consistently while receiving multiple “excellent” evaluations by his or her employers.

Satisfied employers have recommended Mark numerous times to ultimately new Job Bank clients. Over the past year, Mark has excelled at a number of varied tasks, including raking, landscaping, and deck staining.

He looks forward to continuing his positive relationship with the Newtown community.

John Burns, a member of NYS for over two years, was recently named as the winner of this year’s Job Bank Update Card Raffle. This past August, postcards were released to all 200 members of the Job Bank for updating and once returned, were entered into a raffle. NYS executive director Anthony Tozzi randomly drew John Burns’ name.

In addition to his active participation in the Job Bank, John is a dedicated member of many additional NYS programs. A member of the High School Youth Advisory Board (HSYAB), John has participated in Independent Living Day, in which youth assist the community’s elderly with various yard work and household tasks, as well as a number of community service programs. He is currently working to earn his Eagle Scout badge.

As the raffle winner, John received a gift certificate to Loews Theaters and a limited edition Newtown Youth Services T-shirt.

The NYS Job Bank offers a variety of opportunities for the youth of Newtown ages 13 to 18 and includes jobs such as babysitting, yard work, animal care, clerical, housework, wait staffing, painting, tutoring, computers, and other odd jobs. Contact NYS at 270-4335 for more information.
