U8

Blue Breeze 3, Blue Crushers 0: The battle of the “Blues” was a well-played match with both teams showing great hustle and skill. Maddie Stites, Olivia Buchler, and Charlotte Branchflower ignited the Blue Breeze offense with goals aided by fantastic assists from Mary Celentano and Corrin Bottom. A stellar defensive effort was led by Gabriella Sadowski, Katie Stan, and Bailey Buchetto. The Blue Crushers also played a hard-fought game. On offense, Shannon Jackman and Quinlyn Kessler has several shots on goal. Goalkeeping for the Blue Crushers was shared by Paige Farley and Madison Hintze, who did a great job. Jillian Carrino did an awesome job on defense with help by Lindsey Booth and Morgan Melillo.

Wildcats 2, Lighting 2: The Wildcats and Lighting ended up with a knotted score of 2-2. Both team played very well, both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The Wildcats scoring attack was led by Colleen Phaneuf and Laura Augenbraun. Isabella Butler and Emma DiNallo demonstrated good ball control while playing a strong all-around game. Shauna Tucker and Rylee Harrell anchored the Wildcats defense, turning away several attacks. The Lighting attack was led by Elizabeth Texieria and Carlie Smith, each contributing one goal. Hannah Sepp and Ellie Moxham both played very well on defense, and the Lighting goal tending was excellent, led by Cameron Power and Katie Viselli.

U10

Golden Eagles 5, Smurfs 1: The Smurfs looked a little “blue” in the first half as they gave up early scores to the Golden Eagles, despite rallying in the second half to “stop the bleeding” with a ghoul by Veronica Vodola. Carolina Stubbs pirated her way through the midfield, and Julia Clark handed out rocks on defense. Claire DuBois played tricks on the ball, and Alyssa Ross danced her best monster mash, but the goalposts seemed haunted, as they scored “nevermore.”

The Golden Eagles got their treats from Lauryn Ankers, Simone Paradis, Emma Curtis, and Zoe Freedman as they found the right doors to knock on and score. Samantha Bicho led a spooky midfield while Nina Henriques kept mischief night in the backfield tamed. Holly LoCascio guarded the Eagles Golden Candy Bowl well despite a torrent blue wave of attacking goblins.

Dynamites 3, Wilton 0: Despite offensive pressure from the home team, the Dynamites were able to shut them out 3-0. Rebecca Gavel scored the opening goal and later, made two saves as goalie. Defender Lauren Carrino made the second goal, with the final goal coming in the second half from Jenna Lavelle. Grace Corcoran was strong on defense and Audrey Benson kept the ball moving at midfield. Shots were also made by Keeley Kortze, Katie Sailer, Haley Harkins, Lu Hage, and Brooke Antous.

Dynamites 5, Redding 0: The Dynamites launched a constant stream of shots on the Redding keeper by Jenna Lavelle, Haley Harkins, Lauren Carrino, Katie Sailer, Audrey Benson, and Rebecca Gavel. Newtown finally found the back of the net when Katie Sailer passed the ball to Brooke Antous, who shot one by the goalie. Grace Corcoran was effective on defensive to move the ball forward. Keeley Kortze made the next goal and a minute later Jenna Lavelle added one to bring the score to 3-0. Lu Hage then scored on a breakaway and once again to bring the score to 5-0. Alison Kelleher made a heartstopping save in goal in the first half and Audrey Benson also made a save in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Twisters 1, Twisters 0: For the Twisters in White, Isa Galassi and Lindsey Gallagher were tough at midfield. Emma Stierle played well in goal. Jackie Matthews scored the only goal of the game. For the Twisters in Blue, Malia Gioffre was fierce on offense and dominated the field. Julie Raigosa and Sirena Galati protected the goal with catlike reflexes. Isabella DeLeon was a fantastic midfielder.

U12

Wilton 3, Dynamites 0: The Newtown Dynamite traveled to Wilton for a game on a blustery Sunday. The game began as an offensive battle with the action moving end to end. Goalie Amanda Albanesi came up big in net in the first half, warding off the Wilton attack throughout much of the half. Finally, the opponent’s efforts were too much and Wilton was able to find the net late in the half. At halftime Wilton led by two goals. In the second half, the Dynamite worked to create more scoring opportunities, led by Cassidy Keller and Lauren Cirone. Maya Neuhoff and Taylor Pare also worked hard at midfield with crisp passing. The best scoring chance came on Pare’s blistering shot on goal. During the second half, goalkeeper Alexandra Manoni came up with some big saves. The Wilton offense was kept in check in the second half due in part by play of Brianna Lutz on defense.

U14

Twisters 2, Oompah Loompas 2: For the Twisters, the goals were scored by Stephanie Devaney and Jenna Hansen. Excellent ball handling was demonstrated by Anita Luxkaranayagam, while Sinead Flanagan and Anna Pinckney were strong on defense. The team received good all-around play by Arianna Della Corte. For the Oompah Loompas, Andrea Rodriguez and Natalie Shaker scored the goals. Abby Winters played a strong midfield game supporting Grace Frost’s aggressive movement of the ball into the Twisters’ goal area. Elizabeth Delp and Mackenzie Macchiarulo supplied a strong defensive effort.

Smiters 3, SWAT 1: Carly Grossano scored two goals and Katerina Ringes had one for the Smiters in the win. Emma DeFlumeri, Chelsea Picirrillo, and Megan Nahmias had great all-around games. For SWAT, Megan Olszewski scored, and Samantha Lotko and Jackie Mooney played well.

Boys

U8

Mad Men 1, Champions 0: The Madmen put together one of their best efforts of the year in the season finale. Tucker Dupuy led a great team effort and won the “Tough Guy of The Game” award by scoring the winning goal and losing a tooth at the same time. Roni Bajraliu, Connor Faxon, and Marlon Medina spearheaded a great offensive attack and Daniel Debartolomeo, Andy Miller and Riley Ward led a stellar defensive effort. The Champions played another hard-fought game despite the results. The entire team put forth 100 percent effort to keep the game close. Once again, defense was a strength with outstanding play by André Boily, Henry Wishneski, Ethan Paley, and Benjamin Paley, with great goalkeeping by Matthew Weisgerber. An excellent offensive push was made by Milan Chand and Zachary Masone. Great sportsmanship was demonstrated on both sides while a hard-fought game was played. The Champions even enjoyed some oranges, cookies, cupcakes, and Japanese erasers, all donated by parents to help celebrate a great season and Halloween!

Vipers 3, Nighthawks 0: Ryan Farrell and Steven Cheh anchored the stout defense and limited the Nighthawk scoring opportunities as the Vipers finished the season undefeated. William Swierbut scored on a breakaway straight up the middle from the center line and Thomas Armstrong finessed a diagonal ball to the far post for the first two scores. Swierbut capped off the scoring with a header and follow up a rebound on a corner kick from Armstrong. Matthew Jacobs, Andrew Jacobs, and Justin Zemo kept the Nighthawks defense busy with offensive pressure. Ryan Ruddy, Brandon Lutz, and Ethan Correia controlled the field and made plays happen up and down the pitch. The Nighthawks were led by the strong play of Jack Petersen, Jacob Anthony, and Zacharey Riley. Tanner Trede, Richard Qi, and Maximillian Cruwys-Hayes kept the game close with their great hustle and aggressive defense.

Golden Eagles 2, Warriors 1: On a cold Halloween afternoon the Warriors lost a tight battle with the Golden Eagles, two goals to one. For the Warriors, Jackson Reinhart, and Collin Hoffman put in great effort for the offense and DJ Bobowick was solid on defense late into the game. Devin O’Connell scored the lone goal for the Warriors on a high arching kick into the net. Great sportsmanship was on display from both teams throughout and after the game. The Golden Eagles finished their season by capping a six-game unbeaten streak. The goals were scored by Hunter Kirkman and Rohan Mansukhani striking the eventual game winner. Assisting on the goals were Devin Johnson and Markus Paltauf. Sam Staubly and Robbie Accomando played their positions well and set up a lot of scoring chances throughout the game. Colin Marshall added some key saves in goal.

Warriors 4, Team Seven 1: Goals for the Warriors were scored by Jake Pare, CJ Cuomo, and Fritz Maurath. Chase Yeaton, Nick Preszler, Ryan Poupon, and Brandon Manka played an all-around great game. Team 7 fought hard on offense and defense, especially Max Hanson, Alex DaSilva, Steven Dooley, Kevin Gong, and Logan McAloon.

U10

Thunder 2, Cavaliers 1: For the Thunder, Kyle Gaynor played great at both ends of the field, scoring one goal for the team, and later making several great saves in goal. Kyle Duval played a solid game in offense, scoring the team’s second goal and providing an assist on the first. Jacob Goldstein also played well in an offensive midfield position, while Jack Ciaramello and Tyler Gaynor came through with a strong defense. The Cavs lone goal was scored by Tom Shkreli with an assist from Will Pelisson. Luke Sansonetti and Ben Taylor both delivered their strongest performances of the season and were supported by Ravi Ahuja and Elijah Delp in the midfield.

U13

Newtown 5, Monroe 0: Zach Laros was in goal for the shutout. Omar Rodriguez scored on a corner kick with an assist from James Carney. Additional goals were scored by Tony Leonardi and Albert Dean. Chris Rovelli strong on offense and  Tyler Dullinger was strong on defense. The victory clinched first place in their division for the Strikers.

 

U14

Predators 4, Titans 3: Henry Lyon was the first to score for the Predators. The equalizer came from Titan Erik Von Schleusingen. Nathan Hovarth scored for the Predators, supported by good midfield work from Brenden Reeds. David Csordas played strong defense. The Titans’ Elliot Bennet scored next, making it 2 all. Christopher Anesi did good work early in the game but got hurt and had to leave the game; we wish him the best. Predators’ David Pierce scored two goals for a 4-2 lead. Conner Flint (Titans) played a very good game in offense and as goalkeeper. Kevin Arther kept pushing up in offense, which was rewarded by the final goal of the match.

A-Team 5, Bench Warmers 1: In a well-played regular season final game, the A-Team defeated the Bench Warmers 5-1 on a cold and frost-covered field. The A-Team defense was led by the outstanding play of Tommy Sawyer, Charlie Soto, Noah Orakwue, Lukas Columbo, and the combination of Patrick Olah, Saywer Conrad, and Tim Vander Have in goal. The A-team offense was led by Michael Biancardi and Tim Vander Have, each with two goals, and Dillon Palumbo with one. Kieran Lynch and Quinlan Hart controlled the midfield. Congratulations to the A-Team for completing the regular season undefeated with a 7-0-1 record. The Bench Warmers were led by the scoring of Douglas Raigosa. Ryan Szalay had another outstanding game in goal.
