Howl-o-ween Party For The Dogs

The Cassio Pet Resort & Training Center hosted a Howl-o-ween party which was enjoyed by many dogs and their families from the area on October 30.

Various games, including agility tryouts, were held for the enjoyment of all during the afternoon. The doggie costume contest, judged by Jacqueline Adams of Newtown, was won by 6-month-old Penny, owned by Pat McGettigan of Monroe. Penny was dressed as a pirate in a costume that included a cape and raised skull and bone hat. Penny won stuffed toys, and Stavros Mastrogiannis from Olympus Personal Training provided a first-prize gift certificate for two free sessions at his Danbury studio.

There were many interesting costumes including, but not limited to: Superman, snow bunny, drag queen, geisha girl, fighter pilot, and Cousin Itt with Morticia. The most popular costume was the bumble bee.  The star bumble bee costume on the day went to Sprocket, the miniature goat used at Cassio for obedience class distraction testing. Pictures may be viewed on the website at www.CassioPetResort.com.

Constantly cleaning, upgrading and modernizing, Cassio is a full service facility that has been caring for dogs in the Newtown area since 1965. Boarding, day care, grooming, and training is offered on a year-round basis while the Water Sports, K-9 Kabanas, and fenced Play Yard are more seasonal. The last training session for 2010 just started.

Cassio is looking forward to hosting the fun-filled and exciting Doggie Fun Zone next May for the direct benefit of various area canine welfare groups. This is a timed event in which large and small dogs chase a lure over a safe, cut down rendition of an obstacle course. No previous training is required for the dogs. Cassio is currently looking for sponsors for this Florida-based event. More information may be obtained from Joy at Cassio.
