November Comedy Shifts To Saturday Nights, Plus Gottfried In Derby

Treehouse Comedy is once again providing live comedy to Danbury area residents. With a successful opening and three great shows under its at its newest location — Three Oaks/Capellaro’s Grove, 42 Vail Road in Bethel — Treehouse Comedy Productions is proud to announce November shows on consecutive Saturday nights to feature “Women of the Night” and a celebrity stand-up appearance by Kevin Meaney.

On Saturday, November 13, the Treehouse will present its next edition of “Women of the Night,” starring three lovely ladies of laughter. Headlining, from Boston, is the often outrageous Stephanie Peters (below).

Ms Peters is a raucous, big and bawdy comic who commands a huge stage presence while she tells hilarious stories and often interacts with her audience while entertaining with her self-deprecating humor about being heavy-set women in her forties.

Also on the bill is the very funny Helen Hong, who has found a niche with TV appearances on E Entertainment’s “The 25 Most Notorious Fashion Weak Moments” and TLC’S “Fashionably Late” and “What Not to Wear,” while the host of the all-female comedy performance will be Maria Walsh (“America’s Naughty Mommy”), who is a regular at the world famous Friar’s Club.

Showtime is at 9 and tickets are $15.

In his first Danbury area appearance in over a decade, Kevin Meaney will offer an exclusive area appearance on Saturday, November 20.

Meaney is also a Boston native who now resides in New York City and had a five year run on the Broadway hit Hairspray. His comedy career spans decades with appearances on “The Tonight Show,” with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno.

Bill Keller, a writer for “The Tonight Show” and “Late Night,” will be the opening act.

Showtime is again at 9 and tickets are $19.50.

A $19.95 pre comedy buffet is available prior to both Bethel shows.

The new showroom at Three Oaks is 3,000 square feet, with seating available for up to 200 guests.

Tickets can purchased online at TreehouseComedy.com or by calling 203-744-5122.

‘An Imaginative Comic Artist’

The New York Post has described a Gilbert Gottfried (far left) performance as “a tour de force performance by an imaginative comic artist.” Local audiences will have the opportunity to decide for themselves if the Post — and others — are correct in assessing Gottfried’s comedic talent when, on Saturday, November 13, the star of stage, film and TV — and comedian — will take the Treehouse stage for a night of comedy. Gilbert Gottfried is scheduled to perform one show only, at 9 pm, at The River’s Edge, 300 Roosevelt Drive in Derby.

Gilbert’s comedy career spans decades. He jumped onto the national comedy scene as a Saturday Night Live cast member replacement back in 1980. That didn’t last long but led to numerous appearances including roles in the films Beverly Hills Cop II, The Adventures of Ford Fairlaine and The Aristocrats, a hosting gig for USA’s “Up All Night,” and an ongoing role as the Aflac (Insurance) duck.

Gilbert voice has also been used for work in film , cartoons, and countless commercials heard around the world.

Darren Rivera, who was runner-up in Funniest Comic in Connecticut Contest 2, and Vinnie Nardiello, who plays comedy clubs up and down the East Coast, will each offer opening sets.

Tickets for this show are $25, and can either be purchased online at TreehouseComedy.com or by calling 203-516-5970.
