Robert E. Bossuet

US Marine Corps Veteran

Robert E. Bossuet, 81, husband of Dolores (Burout) Bossuet of Newtown, died November 2, at his home. He was born in Bridgeport, April 8, 1929, a son of Margaret (Muirhead) and Joseph Bossuet.

Mr Bossuet was a graduate of Stratford High School, Class of 1948. He served in the US Marines during the Korean War with the rank of sergeant.

Before retirement, Mr Bossuet was a technical engineer for Branson Sonic and played for many years on the company softball team. He was a member of VFW Raymond Goldbach Post #9460 in Stratford and served as drill master for the for the Women’s Auxiliary Drill Team.

A resident of Newtown since 1962, he was a communicant of St Rose of Lima Church, and was a member and past Grand Knight of Virgilius Council #185 Knights of Columbus.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, survivors include a son, Lee J. Bossuet, and a daughter, Debbie Patchey, and her husband Jan; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Leroy Bossuet, and by a sister, Violet Mayes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Tuesday, November 9, at 10 am. Interment with military honors will follow at Connecticut State Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Monday, November 8, from 6 to 8 pm.
