Trail Is Much Better Without The Trash
Trail Is Much Better
Without The Trash
To the Editor:
A few months ago I sent Pat Llodra an e-mail asking if she was aware of the garbage that was piled high in a parking area off of Swamp Road. We traded e-mails about the issue and she told me she would visit the site to investigate. Yesterday, after recovering from a foot injury that kept me off the trail, I visited the site to be amazed that it was 95 percent cleaned up! There was evidence that the cleanup crew was still on site finishing up the work, the only work left appeared to be cleaning up some of the wooded area nearby.
This is a beautiful trail head that connects Newtown and Monroe Trails and allows hiking, running, and biking, it was a disgrace the way the area looked before Pat and her team jumped into action and cleaned it up.
I hope more will enjoy the trail head now. The driveway parallels the driveway to the lumber yard on Swamp Road and now is nearly garbage free. At some point I hope the gate is opened, signs posted, and the paved area is used as parking area for more people to use the trail. At this point the best way is to bike, run, or hike over, or to parallel park on Swamp Road.
Thanks again Pat!
