Led by a pool record-setting performance by Brianna Deierlein in the 50 yard freestyle race, Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team defeated the Bethel-Immaculate of Danbury co-op 95-70 on November 3. Deierlein clocked in with a 50 free time of 25.06.

The Nighthawks defeated New Fairfield 92-84 in a rescheduled meet on October 27. Results of both meets are as follows:

In the win over New Fairfield, the 200 yard medley relay team of Sofia Doersch, Deierlein, Grace Fischer, and Caroline Mahoney was first in a time of 1:59.74.

Doersch won the 200 freestyle event in 2:04.13. Mahoney was first in the 200 individual medley race in 2:21.04. Deierlein won the 50 in a time of 25.10.

Newtown’s Diellza Limani won the 100 butterfly race in 1:07.08. Mahoney was tops in the 100 free, clocking in at 57.03. Doersch won the 500, making her final touch in 5:29.68.

The 200 free relay team of Deierlein, Anna Shew, Limani, and Mahoney was first in 1:47.60.

Shayna Millard won the 100 backstroke race in 1:06.69. Cate Fischer was first in the 100 breaststroke event in 1:12.97.

Newtown’s 400 relay contingent of Payton Bradley, Millard, Ella Seaver, and Norah Kolb was first in 4:01.89.

Against Bethel-Immaculate, Mahoney, Deierlein, Fischer, and Bradley took first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:57.49.

Millard won the 200 free in 2:04.55. Doersch was first in the 100 free with a time of 56.99.

The 200 free relay team of Mahoney, Doersch, Kolb, and Bradley was first, clocking in with a time of 1:45.95.

Deierlein won the 100 backstroke race in 1:02.20. Fischer took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.63.

The 400 relay of Deierlein, Kolb, Millard, and Doersch won in 3:52.01.
