Quota Club Planning 5th Annual

Book & Author Luncheon

BETHEL — Quota International of Candlewood Valley, Inc. will host its 5th annual Book & Author Luncheon on Saturday, November 14, from 11am to 3 pm, at the Stony Hill Inn, 50 Stony Hill Road.

This year’s guest authors will be Billy Steers of Roxbury, Patricia Sheehy of Wethersfield, and Lisa Barham of Greenwich.  Participants will meet the authors and enjoy a full three-course sit-down luncheon. The authors will speak about themselves and their books, which will be available for purchase and signing.

Tickets to the luncheon cost $30 and must be purchased in advance. Call 775-3587 or 426-7707 by November 10 for reservations.

Proceeds from this event will fund Quota’s local service projects, some of which are Teddy Bear Brigade, which distributes Quota Care bears to police and local ambulance services for children/adults in trauma situations; WHALE, a car seat identification program that distributes kits designed to aid rescue personnel in the event of an auto accident that incapacitates the adult passengers; Comfort Pillows, which provides pillows to Danbury Hospital Praxair Cancer Center, Ann’s Place and other local Hospitals for Patient use during recovery; and Ability Beyond Disability’s Christmas Wish List program for clients in group homes, among other ongoing projects.

Quota International, founded in 1919, is an international service organization that links members of all ages, occupations, and nationalities in a worldwide network of service and friendship. With a motto of “We Share,” Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children.

The Candlewood Valley Chapter of QUOTA has long served the greater Danbury area since 1978.
