Rita Macmillan, 72, beloved wife of Gordon Macmillan, died suddenly at Hartford Hospital, November 4, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 25, 1941, in New York City, she moved to Newtown in 1972, where she lived for 34 years.

She worked for the Town of Newtown for more than 20 years, and retired in September 2007 as director of Planning and Zoning. She and her husband then moved to Morris, Conn.

Her husband; her daughter Susan Williams, and her husband John, of Morris; her son Gordon Macmillan, Jr, and his wife Karen, of Hebron;  five grandchildren; and two nieces survive Mrs Macmillan.

“She was truly something to behold and she will be sincerely missed by all who knew her. She is now at peace.”

Funeral services will take place Saturday, November 9, at 2 pm, in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Friends may call Saturday, from noon to 2 pm, prior to the service.
