'Holiday Decorations From Nature's Bounty'

The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will host a program on Wednesday, November 11, by Carol King Platt titled “Holiday Decorations from Nature’s Bounty.” The program will begin at 7 pm, and will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

Ms Platt will be bringing a collection of natural plant materials in order to demonstrate how to create wonderful decorative items for the holiday season. She promises a humorous look at easy methods for good looking decorations that will make anyone’s house look prettier at a joyous times of the year.

Ms Platt has been known to gather her material from the garden as well as the side of the road. The methods she uses could work for Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Ms Platt has been a contributing editor at Home and Garden, has written a weekly garden column for The Day (New London, Conn.) for 23 years, and has contributed to many local publications. Also a lecturer and garden designer, she was voted by one of the Top 10 New England Garden Writers by People, Places, and Plant.

The program is free and open to the public.
