A Stimulating Campaign

To the Editor:

I wish to thank the voters who supported me in my bid for a seat on the Board of Education in this past election. It was a very stimulating campaign that addressed critical issues in our educational system. The nomination of more than one candidate for each open seat by the Republican Town Committee helped to bring the debate on these issues to the public forum. This was a healthy and positive change in Newtown politics regarding candidates for the Board of Education, and I trust it will continue in future elections.

My congratulations to Paul Mangiafico and Andrew Buzzi on winning these two seats. I wish them the best in their service to the board, and thank them for conducting their campaigns in a professional manner without the mudslinging and diatribes common to some elections.

I hope that my participation in this race helped to bring attention to some of the problems facing the BOE and urge all the citizens of Newtown to continue their involvement in our children’s schools.
