Children’s Programs

*Tellabration with Curtis Urbina: Story teller Curtis Urbina is bringing Tellabration, a celebration of story telling, to C.H. Booth Library for children ages 4-8 on three consecutive Friday afternoons — November 7, 14 and 21 — at 3:30 pm in the library meeting room.

On November 7 Curtis will tell participatory tales, November 14 will feature silly stories, and on November 21 come and hear folk tales.

No sign up is required, just bring your imagination.

Young Adult Programs

*Young Writers’ Salon: The 6th Annual Young Writers’ Salon for ‘tweens and teens who like to write will be held on Sunday, November 23, at 3 pm.

Young people in grades 6-10 are invited to read their original poetry, stories and other writing to an admiring audience in our coffeehouse atmosphere. Snow date is December 14.

Participants must register and submit their pieces in advance by Monday, November 17.

There will be a rehearsal at 1 o’clock on the day of the program. Sign up at the Main Floor Desk or call 426-4533.

Adult & Family Programs

*Identifying Possible Delays: The series “Identifying Possible Delays in Your Child’s Language, Social Skills and Learning” will continue on Tuesday, November 18, at 7 pm.

Charlie Manos, the director of pupil services in the Danbury School System, and Ann Rose, a child advocate, attorney and mother of two special needs children will present “How To Get Help: Negotiating the Special Education Maze.”

The final program, on December 2, will be “Learning About Additional Services in the Community.” Details to follow.

*Upcoming Book Discussions: The Daytime Book Group will discuss Rise and Shine by Anna Quindlen on Monday, November 10, at 1 pm; and the Evening Book Discussion on Thursday, November 20, at 7:30, will cover The Last Picture Show by Larry McMurtry.

Multiple copies of the books are available at the circulation desk. Everyone is invited

*Chess Tournament: Sponsored by the CH Booth Library Chess Club, a chess tournament will be played at the library on Saturday, November 29.

*Picture Magic – The Art of Digital Manipulation: A hands-on computer workshop on Thursday, December 4, from 7 to 9 pm, will help participants explore free Internet resources to organize, correct and share digital images, and create digital photo albums, slide shows and photo prints.

Instructors are Kenneth Graff and Anne Eigen. This class is for adults and is limited to ten people.  There is no charge.

C.H. Booth Library is open Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday from 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm; and Sunday from noon to 5 pm (closed Sundays in July and August).
