The Newtown Marching Band & Color Guard performed its show “Life Sentence” on Saturday, November 2, and came in second place with a score of 91.875 in Group IV Open, taking the Best Individual Music Caption at a Danbury Jamboree Of Bands.

Originally scheduled to be held at Danbury High School, construction forced a location change to New Fairfield High School.

As the season progresses, changes are made to improve the show. The group added bold orange and black stripes to the band member sashes, and orange was added to the drumline harnesses. A woodwind visual was also added.

Newtown will perform its show during halftime at the Friday, November 8, football game at the Newtown High School Blue and Gold stadium, 12 Berkshire Road.

Newtown’s final competition of the season will be the USBands Open Class National Championships, to be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday, November 9. More than 45 ensembles will perform during this all-day competition, and ten bands will be competing in Newtown’s Group IV Open.

Sophomore Connor Hill is looking forward to competing in front of a big group of people at Met Life Stadium. Senior Dan Fitzpatrick loves the tailgate event during the trip to New Jersey.

Fall marching season will conclude with a banquet for members and their families.
