In the recent v-USBands National Championships the NHS Marching Band and Guard received their highest scores of the season against 13 other division 2 bands from across the country, taking home the bronze medal with an overall score of 93.5 (out of 100) from the submitted recorded performance.

Newtown took Best Music caption award while the color guard and percussion sections both ranked second in the National Championship.

NHS Director of Bands Kurt Eckhardt told the student members, “I thank each and every one of you for making this perhaps the most memorable season ever. I would have loved to have you all rewarded with a first place finish, but competitions are only part of the story. The more important part is if you had fun, made friends, learned about teamwork, achieved excellence, built more self confidence, and became a more skilled performer. Those are such valuable things to carry you into your future.”

This past weekend the NHS Band and Guard performed on November 7 in the v-USBands Grand Finale which was its final recorded performance of the season.

Eckhardt went on to share with the team, “Great performance yesterday, our last day together! It was a beautiful day in so many ways!”
