The 29th Newtown Holiday Festival will host a Gingerbread House Contest as one of its events on Sunday, December 7.

Introduced in 2007, the competition invites families, friends, organizations and even individuals to create a candy confection to be put on view during the run of the five-hour event.

While there is no cost to enter, registration is required and must be done by Monday, December 1. Registration is available through the .Newtown Youth & Family Services website

Once registered, each group or individual will be given an entrance form. That form, along with the completed gingerbread house, will need to be delivered to the gymnasium of Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, on Saturday, December 6, between 2 and 7 pm.

No identifying name or information about the builders can be included within or on the gingerbread house.

There is only one entry allowed per person or group.

Aside from the base, entries must be completely edible.

No electric or battery operated lighting is allowed.

Creations by an individual child cannot exceed 12 by 12 inches. Bases for groups and families cannot exceed 15 by 20 inches.

Judging will take place on Sunday, December 7, by 3:30, with winners to be announced after that. Winners do not need to be present for the announcement.

Entries need to be picked up on Sunday by 4:30 pm or they will be rezoned by NYFS.

For additional information contact NYFS Operations Assistant Matt Ariniello at 203-270-4335.
