Thanksgiving Closings & Early Deadlines
Most offices and businesses will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving, a federal holiday, on Thursday, November 25.
All town offices will be closed that day, and Friday, November 26. They will reopen Monday, November 29.
Newtown Senior Center and C.H. Booth Library will also be closed both days. The senior center will reopen on Monday. The library will reopen Saturday, November 27.
The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will be closed both days. It will reopen on Saturday.
Newtown Community Center will be closed on Thursday. It will reopen Friday morning.
FAITH Food Pantry will be closed on Thursday. It does have a special Thanksgiving dinner pick-up session for clients scheduled for Monday, November 22, however.
Volunteers will be at 46 Church Hill Road that evening from 6 to 7:30 pm. The pantry will be open for its regular Tuesday morning session on November 26 (9:30-11:30). Clients are asked to contact the pantry (203-837-0816) to let volunteers know which day they will be visiting so that proper planning can be done.
Thanksgiving is a postal holiday, so there will be no mail delivery, and USPS offices will be closed for the day.
The office of The Newtown Bee will be closed Thursday and Friday. We will reopen at 8 am Monday, November 29.

Deadlines for the November 26, 2021, print edition of The Newtown Bee will be affected by Thanksgiving.
Items for the Business, Education, Sports, and Health sections must be received no later than noon Monday, November 22.
General news, calendar, Enjoy, and Letters to the Editor must be received by noon Tuesday, November 23.
Obituaries must be received by 9 am Wednesday, November 24.
Real estate display ads are due by 10 am Friday, November 19.
Regular display (non-real estate) ads are due by 10 am Monday, November 22.
In-column real estate ads are also due by Monday at 10.
Regular classified ads are due by 1 pm Tuesday, November 23.
The paper will be printed and mailed Wednesday, November 24.
