BD Provisions, a zero- and low-waste bulk food store, celebrated the two-year anniversary of its Newtown location on Saturday, November 7. It also has a location in Fairfield, and a New Milford location is coming soon.

Internationally recognized street artist Anthony Cappetto created a 3D chalk mural in the store’s parking lot to commemorate the milestone.

Cappetto, who founded his company Art For After Hours in 2001, specializes in professional street art. He has traveled the world sharing his art and is currently pursuing local projects, as he is based in New York.

The custom mural Cappetto drew at BD Provisions featured the company’s signature bulk bin and scooper at the top.

BD Provisions was founded by Newtown residents John and Cynthia Boccuzzi, Jr, and their friends Tony and Tara DiPippa.

Boccuzzi told The Newtown Bee that they sought out Cappetto to create the one-of-a-kind mural as a way to give children and adults a “fun, interactive” experience.”

After the mural was complete, a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce and First Selectman Dan Rosenthal took place.
