Holiday Closings & Early Deadlines

All town, state, and federal offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 26 and 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Locally, the transfer station at 4 Ethan Allen Road will be closed both days; it will reopen on Saturday, November 28, on its regular schedule (7 am to 3 pm).

The Cyrenius H. Booth Library and Newtown Senior Center will both be closed Thursday and Friday. The library will reopen on Saturday at 10 am, and the senior center will reopen on Monday, November 30, at 9 am.

Schools also will be closed Thursday and Friday. Public schools will have early dismissal on Wednesday, November 25.

The United States Postal Service will not be making deliveries on Thursday.

The offices of The Newtown Bee will be closed on Thursday and Friday. We will reopen at 8 am Monday, November 30.

Early Deadlines

The print edition of November 27, 2020, will be printed and mailed the afternoon of Wednesday, November 25. Because of this, many of the paper’s deadlines will be 24 hours earlier than usual.

All editorial deadlines will be one business day earlier than usual.

Letters to the editor must be received no later than 3 pm on Tuesday, November 24, for publication in the November 27 print edition of the paper. Obituaries must be received by 9 am Wednesday, November 25.

Copy for display and classified advertising must be received by our office as follows: Real Estate Display ads: 10 am Friday, November 20; Display: 10 am Monday, November 23; Real Estate Classified ads, 10 am Monday, November 23; and regular Classifieds, 1 pm Tuesday, November 24.

Multiple entities will be affected next week by Thanksgiving. The Newtown Bee will also have a number of early deadlines.
