The 15th Annual Newtown Tree Lighting will be Friday, December 3, at 6:30 pm. All of Newtown is invited to join Santa and Mrs Claus in the annual event at Ram Pasture, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.

Luminaria will line Main Street and encircle the pasture at Hawley Drive and Elm Street, lighting the way for those attending the ceremony. The ceremony will feature caroling.

Historical society docent coordinator Patty Graves will be at the Matthew Curtiss House, welcoming anyone who wants to stop in with hot cider after the tree lighting.

Friday night’s activities will begin a weekend of events that includes the annual Rotary Pancake Breakfast at Edmond Town Hall and the Park & Recreation Breakfast with Santa at Newtown Middle School, both on Saturday morning. After breakfast, children are invited to a new event at the library. Montessori School will be sponsoring “The Children’s Tree,” a free workshop for all children to make ornaments for one of the library’s evergreens, from 10 am to 2 pm. Hot chocolate will be available, and Newtown Montessori Glee Club will lead caroling.

The 14th Annual Holiday Festival then returns on Sunday, with offerings for all ages and interests from 11 am to 5 pm. Proceeds will once again benefit Family Counseling Center.
