The Resiliency Center of Newtown has announced a number of upcoming events, including a series of offerings for Monday, December 14, to help residents on the third anniversary of 12/14.

The center’s next Monthly Coffee Hour will be on Wednesday, December 9. All are invited to stop in for coffee and socializing between 10 and 11:30 am.

This month’s guest will be Carla Barzetti from Brilliant Souls, who leads guided healing meditation groups, Reiki, and other natural healing activities.

Ms Barzetti will talk about doing spiritual soul searching and getting in touch with one’s true self in the course of everyday life... not having to meditate and set aside time people don’t think they have, to do that “work.” The intention of Ms Barzetti’s talk is to help people become more present, calm down, and enjoy their lives more deeply, and “processing” their soul work as they walk through their mainstream existence.

Registration is not required.

On Friday, December 11, from 10 am until 2:30 pm, free Reiki sessions will be offered. Women from Solstice Strategy Partners in Tolland are donating their time and talent for these sessions.

They will provide 30 minute sessions throughout the day. Registration is necessary.

Then on Monday, December 14, the center will be open from 9 am until 5 pm.

“We will have opportunities for spontaneous creative experiences for all who walk through our door,” says Office Manager Jennifer Holguin.

There will be chair massage from 9 to 11 am; healing meditation, 10 am-2 pm; terrarium building, 10 am-5 pm; Zoe the Therapy Dog, 12-4 pm; chocolate making, 1-3 pm; and brittle making, 4-5 pm.

Crisis counseling  will be available all day.

“Most importantly,” Ms Holguin added, “we offer a safe and welcoming space to simply be.”

The Resiliency Center is at 153 South Main Street, in the lower level of The SCB Building; entry is through the lower rear parking lot.

Resiliency Center of Newtown (RCN) is a program of Tuesday’s Children, which is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. RCN was founded by a community member and offers long-term healing to anyone impacted by the events of 12/14, providing the resources so that every individual reaches their full potential.

The center is a welcoming place where people feel comfortable connecting with others while finding appropriate services to assist in the healing process.

Founded in the aftermath of 12/14, The Resiliency Center of Newtown has a full day of special offerings, including crisis counseling, planned for the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shootings. Residents can take advantage of the programs free of charge.
