Newtown High School’s wrestling program has most of its costs covered by the school but is seeking donations to support the following:

Team video camera — College coaches are asking for recruiting videos. The team would like to buy a standalone camera to film all varsity matches. The school has purchased a subscription to HUDL software so that coaches can review film and wrestlers can send to college coaches.

Travel tournaments — In addition to its tough tournament schedule, the Nighthawks have been invited to Beast of the East and Eastern States, which are two of the most prestigious high school events. The Hawks are also planning to send ten-plus wrestlers and two coaches to the High School Nationals in Virginia Beach in April. These tournaments require hotel stays for the coaching staff.

Coaching Support — In addition to the head coach, the Hawks have hired two assistant coaches, including a strength and conditioning coach. The team has doubled in size with an active roster of 34 wrestlers. With high school coach salaries being so meager, the program would like to subsidize their salaries a little bit for the countless hours of practice and months of weekend competitions, including four new JV tournaments added this year.

All donations will be administered by the board of Nighthawk Wrestling Booster Club. One hundred percent of the funds will benefit our wrestlers and all gifts are tax deductible. The nonprofit tax ID# is 87-1420196.

Nighthawk grapplers are raising funds to offset costs for travel tournaments, coaching support, and more.
