The Garden Club of Newtown will hold its annual Holiday Greens Sale from 9 am to noon on Saturday, December 5, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. This popular event is the club’s main fundraiser, and those who have shopped at the event in the past usually try to be among the first in line in subsequent years. Dried plant materials, pinecones and a variety of evergreens and other items are used in creating and decorating evergreen wreaths and tabletop arrangements for the holiday season. Shown here is the view inside the meeting house when last year’s sale opened. This year’s event will again include dozens of wreaths; bundles of fresh, loose greens for home decorating; tabletop boxwood trees and evergreen centerpieces; firestarter boxes and handmade gift items. In addition, Newtown resident, gardener and author Sydney Eddison will be signing her latest book, Where We Walk: poems rooted in the soil of New England. Copies of the book will be available for sale at the event. The Garden Club of Newtown will use profits from this fundraiser to contribute to the community in numerous ways.
