Eleanor Esther Rivoir

Eleanor Esther Rivoir died on November 25 at Sudbury Pines Extended Care facility in Sudbury, Mass.

Eleanor was born on November 29, 1918, to Carl Alfred and Esther Anderson of New Haven; she grew up one of six children.

She was the beloved wife of Robert H. Rivoir, whom she married in 1945, settling in West Haven. In 1956, the family moved to Monroe, where Eleanor served as treasurer of the Monroe Congregational Church and a leader in the Cub Scouts and Brownies. While in Monroe, she was also a long-term employee of the Vitramon Corporation.

When her children were grown, she and Robert moved to Watertown and joined the Union Congregational Church of Oakville where she was active in the Ladies’ Aid. Eleanor’s life was one of loving kindness to her family and friends and special devotion to her children and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered by her three children, Robert and wife Eileen of Port Matilda, Penn.; Ellen and husband Glenn Pruszinski of Framingham, Mass.; and Keith of Southbury. Her four grandchildren, Jolyon, Anna, Lisa, and Laura, and her great-granddaughter Kyra will miss her. She will also be remembered by brothers Herbert Anderson of Hamden and Walter Anderson of Bethany.

Graveside services were held Tuesday in Evergreen Cemetery, North Street, Watertown, followed by a memorial service at Union Congregational Church, 161 Buckingham Street, Oakville.

The Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main Street, Watertown was in charge of arrangements.
