Shirley Ann Wilson

Shirley Ann (Veccherelli) Wilson, 64, of Monroe, died on November 24 surrounded by her loving family and friends at St Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport, after a courageous two-year battle with lung cancer.

Born in Bridgeport November 13, 1940, she was the daughter of Stephen Leo Veccherelli and Margaret Rose Veccherelli. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe and was a graduate of Bassik High School in Bridgeport.

She is survived by her parents, Stephen Leo Veccherelli of Port St Lucie, Fla., and Margaret Rose Veccherelli of Monroe; her husband, Richard J. Wilson; her son, Dr Richard S. Wilson of Monroe; her daughter, Judy A. Veccherelli of Monroe; an aunt, Dawn Veccherelli of Newtown; a cherished grandson, Anthony J. Fry; a brother, Michael Veccherelli and his wife Lorraine of Huntington; a sister, Rose Gonzales and her husband Daniel of Vista, Calif.; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Leo Veccherelli, Jr, of Monroe and her precious dogs Mozart and KiKi.

She was formerly employed by Vitramon and Anodic in Monroe. For the past ten years she was the owner and operator of Woodbury Cleaning Service in Woodbury. She will be remembered fondly for her kindness, generosity, and unconditional love for others during her lifetime. She loved cooking, gardening, arranging wild flowers, opera music, animals, and her trips to Saratoga. Her passion in life was her family, especially her grandson Anthony who was the light in her life. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Peter Barrett, Dr Andrew Duda, Dr Deborah Fong, Dr Ahmad Fotovat, Dr William Fitzgerald, Dr George Goldfarb, Dr Kathy Harper, Dr Michelle Ranno, Dr Daniel Rose, Dr Roman Perez-Soler, Dr Raphael Squiteri, and Dr Lansheng Wang and special thanks to nurses and PAs on the CVU Unit and Infusion Center for all of their love and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 1 in St Jude’s Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, in Monroe. Burial followed in the Monroe Center Cemetery.

The Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Route 111, in Monroe was in charge of arrangements.
