The town will conduct its annual Christmas tree lighting event at the Ram Pasture, near Hawley Pond, on the evening of Friday, December 3.

Holiday festivities including Christmas caroling and dancing will start at 6:30 pm. The Christmas tree lights are scheduled to be turned on at 7 pm.

To protect the many pedestrians who walk through that area, police will enforce certain traffic control measures in the area from 5 to 8 pm.

Elm Drive will be closed to traffic between its intersections with Sugar Street and Borough Lane. No parking will be allowed on the closed section of Elm Drive. Only emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel on the closed section of Elm Drive.

No parking will be allowed on Hawley Road. Also, parking will be prohibited on the section of South Main street lying between its intersections with Borough Lane and Glover Avenue. There will be no parking on Sugar Street in the area between its intersections with South Main Street and Elm Drive.

Parking will be prohibited on the driveway that links Sugar Street to the rear parking lot at Town Hall South.

Affected areas will be posted with police barricades, traffic cones, and “No Parking” signs. Police officers will be on duty in the area.

Violators of the parking prohibitions are subject to having their vehicles towed.
