‘Suzan Scott: Storms And Other Skies’

WOODBURY — Connecticut artist Suzan Scott will have her new show, “Storms and Other Skies,” on view at Good News Café and Gallery, 694 Main Street South, until January 10.

The Cafe will welcome Ms Scott with an opening reception at the restaurant from 3 to 5 pm on Sunday, December 5. The public is invited to meet the artist, view the exhibition, and learn more about her works while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine.

The raw, elemental energy of a storm is a universal and unpredictable occurrence that has inspired artists throughout history. The power and beauty of these tumultuous events captivate and evoke a sense of nature’s fury.

Ms Scott is an artist and observer who photographs the sky as part of her daily practice. Her work is inspired by a powerful thunderstorm that occurred in Connecticut in August 2008. Through photographs and direct observation of the changing skies on that day, Ms Scott was able to render a series of paintings that induce the organic nature of the shifting atmosphere.

The ongoing project has allowed her to explore her lifelong interests in art, nature, and science. Ms Scott hopes that in viewing her work viewers will “take away a willingness to look more closely and make new connections with the sky, the natural world and the life around them.”

The restaurant and gallery is open Wednesday through Monday; call 203-266-4663 for additional information.
