Sincere Thanks To Newtown Highway Department

To the Editor:

Yesterday afternoon [November 30] we had an enormous amount of rain water cascading down the back hill behind our cottage. As the rain was coming down in “sheets” the road water was spilling over the curbing directly above us. My husband called our road department, and asked if we could maybe have the curbing fixed, so it would be higher, and keep the road water from pouring down the hill, as it also has in the past.

Within an hour the men were here! Jeff and his men met me up on Brookbridge, right behind our cottage, saw what was happening, and said he would put in a work order. That response time was amazing, and so appreciated.

This morning, one day after the enormous rainfall, Jeff and his men were here addressing the curb issue! This was amazing, and their total cooperation was outstanding. Jeff is so easy to talk with, to explain things to, and dialog with — what a pleasant, cooperative, and understanding person and team.

Our thanks to Jeff and his crew for all they did to help us with our ever-ongoing water dilemma here in Pootatuck Park. As climate change happens and the climate continues to worsen, so does the heavy rainfall and winds we’ve been experiencing.

It is heartening to know that we have a group of fine men like Jeff and his crew to rely on in a problem situation.

Our thanks to them all.

Sincerely,

Lynn Beaudean
