“MAKING FACES,” an exhibit of portraits, self-portraits, landscapes and whimsical constructions by Peter Steiner will open with a reception at Minor Memorial Library, 23 South Street in Roxbury, on Saturday, December 5, from 2 to 4 pm.  The show will continue during regular library hours through Monday, January 4. In 1978, Mr. Steiner left his academic career as a professor German in order to devote himself full-time to art.  For more than 25 years, he drew cartoons for The New Yorker as well as for numerous other publications.  He is also a novelist and St. Martin’s Press will publish his third novel in the spring of 2010.   Galleries in Washington, D.C. and New York have shown Mr. Steiner’s work.  This year, the Austrian Embassy in Washington held a one-man show of his paintings.
