To The Editor:

Once again, The Newtown Choral Society played to a standing room only crowd, this time at our holiday concert, December 2, at The Meeting House. The concert highlighted Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols with harpist Annnelise Ellars.

Our director, Mary Andreotta, also led us in joyous songs of the season. The concert culminated with a community sing of “Joy to the World.” Our accompanist Susan Anthony-Klein once again supported us with her excellent concert performance.

We thank Charles Zukowski for recording our performance. We thank Chuck Margoulas, Dick Zang, Jack Tanner, Jeff Jackson, Jonathan Gamble, and Clive Beddoe-Stephens and Lee Field for transporting our equipment.

We thank our ticket taker Jennifer Clark.

The choir would specifically like to thank Nancy Dvorin, for creating and supporting our social media, and Peg Heetmann, our long time treasurer.

We thank The Newtown Bee for their invaluable support in publicizing our concert.

And we thank Peter Andrew and Andrea von Amelunxen for hosting our after concert party at their gracious home.

Finally, as always, we must thank my husband, Kenneth, for his computer expertise, his patience, and his muscle.

The Newtown Choral Society, now entering its 32nd year, will begin rehearsals for its spring concert in January. We welcome new members from all area towns and have openings in all voices. Our soloists come from our membership.

If it is your time to raise your voice in song in a supportive environment, access newtownchoral.org/access, or contact me at 426-3769 or at lel-choir2@se-ltd.com about joining the Newtown Choral Society. We perform two concerts a year and practice Wednesday evenings at the Newtown Middle School.

We support ourselves through dues, ticket sales, and program ads.
