Salvation Army Bell Ringers Needed

UPDATE (Thursday, December 6, 2018): All bell ringing positions have been filled, according to Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign Co-Chair Anna Wiedemann.

UPDATE (Wednesday, December 5, 2018): Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign Co-Chair Anna Wiedemann tells The Newtown Bee that just one spot remains to be filled as of this morning. A bell ringer (individual, couple, friends, group, etc) is still needed for 6 pm Friday, December 7.

The Newtown chapter of the Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to ring bells the following days and times this coming weekend:

Friday, December 7: Stop & Shop north entrance, 228 South Main Street (Sand Hill Plaza), 6-7 and 7-8 pm; and Stop & Shop south entrance (Bottle return side), 6-7 pm;

Saturday, December 8: Walgreens, 49 South Main Street, 3-4 pm; and Yankee Wine & Spirits, 8 Queen Street (Newtown Shopping Center), 2-3 and 3-4 pm.

Ringers are also needed for the following Friday, December 14:

Bottle Stop Wine & Spirit Superstore, 5 Queen Street, 7-8 pm; Newtown Pizza Palace, 61 Church Hill Road, 7-8 pm; Walgreens, 5-6 and 7-8 pm; and Stop & Shop (south entrance), 4-5 and 7-8 pm.

Ninety percent of all funds raised in town go toward assisting Newtown residents in need of emergency financial assistance such as purchasing fuel oil, food and paying utility bills The distribution of all funds is made through the Newtown Social Services Department and paid directly to vendors.
