2004 Weller Teaching Award
WOODBURY â Kindergarten through grade five teachers in Newtown, Monroe, Easton, Shelton, and Trumbull who have developed a successful curriculum project that was implemented in the classroom as part of the curriculum during the current or previous academic year are eligible to apply for the Weller Excellence in Teaching Award (formerly the Weller Outstanding Teacher Award).
The award recognizes the teaching quality and innovation exhibited by classroom teachers of grades K-5. The Weller Foundation, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization providing financial assistance to educational, charitable, and civil organizations, hopes that this honor will help encourage the teaching excellence that is so vital to youth.
Entrants are required to complete an application form before March 5. A panel of judges from each town will select their representative recipient. The five recipients will be honored at an Awards Banquet to be held on May 12 at Fairfield University. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 check and a Certificate of Honor.
