Girl Scout Dinner Dance A Success

To the Editor:

The Girl Scout Council of Southwestern Connecticut held its Annual Gala CampOut Dinner Dance and Silent Auction on October 25 at the Italian Center in Stamford. This memorable fundraiser was an outstanding success, thanks to a diverse group of supporters and contributors and a large group of hard-working volunteers.

On behalf of the council, which brings the traditional and innovative Girl Scout Program to over 9,000 girls in 15 towns and cities in Fairfield County, I would like to publicly thank event corporate sponsors Alloy, the Bank of New Canaan, Fleet Bank, People’s Bank, Pitney Bowes, Right Management, and Webster Bank.

I would also like to acknowledge the individuals and companies who were event patrons, donors to the Silent Auction, and contributors of goods and services to the event; the participants who purchased tickets and bid on over 140 auction items; and the numerous volunteers who gave so much of their time and energy to direct the evening’s success. Most special thanks go to event Co-Chairs Sally Berry of Westport and Nancy May of Redding.

The financial support garnered by the 2003 Gala will further this council’s efforts to help girls grow to their potential and enjoy the friendships and special opportunities girl scouting offers. The positive partnerships formed by our association with girls, volunteers, and supporters bring out the best in our members and communities. As this council looks to the future, it invites everyone to contribute in some capacity to this proactive process. I urge anyone who cares about girls, the four camp properties we maintain, the memories girl scouting fosters, and the skills it develops to contact me. Together we can open many doors of possibility.
