December 5 - Horse Law,

Join Waterbury’s Post University’s Equine Resources Committee in welcoming attorney Ruth Beardsley for a discussion of Horse Law and Liability on Friday, December 5 at 7:15 pm. This is essential information for all horse owners and professionals who would like to be prepared to handle possible lawsuits.

Attorney Beardsley is an Adjunct Professor of Equine Law at Post as well as a Magistrate Judge, arbitrator and fact-finder for the State of Connecticut Judicial Department. An accomplished horsewoman, she has published a book, A Horseman’s Legal Guide for CT, MA & RI, as well as legal articles for Dressage Today magazine and the newsletters of the Connecticut Dressage & Combined Training Association and the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. 

This event will be on the lower campus in the Drubner Center (#201) on the second floor at the top of the stairs. This building is on Route 63, (exit 17 off I-84). Tickets are available for $10 at the door. Post Students are admitted free of charge.

December 13 - Arabian Horse Event,

Bridgewater’s Trowbridge’s Ltd. will hold its 15th Annual Arabian Horse Open Barn on Saturday December 13, beginning at noon with a horse presentation at 2 pm. The event is free and open to the public. Come learn about the Arabian breed and meet the horses. Attendees are invited to bring cameras for pictures of family with an Arabian horse. December 13 - Christmas Open House

The Humane Organization Representing Suffering Equines (H.O.R.S.E) of Connecticut will hold a Christmas Open House on Saturday, December 13 (snow date, December 14) from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will include a tack sale, tour, silent auction, boutique sale and bake sale table. Pony rides will be offered from noon-2 pm. H.O.R.S.E. of Connecticut is at 43 Wilbur Road in Washington. December 13-14 - Horse Guard Collects Donations In Support of Military

Governor M. Jodi Rell and the Connecticut National Guard have kicked-off this year’s Operation E.L.F. (Embracing Lonely Families) to help Connecticut’s military members and the families during the holidays (160 National Guard soldiers and airmen are currently deployed). The public can support them by donating grocery gift cards (no food donations), department store gift cards, phone cards and new, unwrapped toys. Many of the toys that are collected will be distributed to deployed families during a special holiday dinner in December. Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard trailers will be parked at the Big Y parking lot in Newtown on Saturday, December 13 from 10 am to 2 pm and Sunday, December 14 from 11:30 am to 3 pm. Santa Claus and his 2GHG cavalry reindeer will be present.
