Our Firefighters Do It Again

To the Editor:

Thanks again to all five of Newtown’s fire companies for once again collecting food, turkeys, money, and stocking the shelves of the FAITH Food Pantry. November 22 was a day to remember with fire trucks streaming into St John’s Church parking lot all day.

A special thanks, again, to Karin Halstead for all her work in organizing the fire departments and assuring a steady flow of food. Dunkin’ Donuts, the Pizza Palace, and The Villa helped feed the volunteers.

In the end it is the people of Newtown whose giving of food and money made the event so successful in the first place. FAITH, which receives no outside funding, is a 100 percent volunteer organization that depends solely on the generosity of this wonderful community.

You did it again, Newtown!
