The service at Trinity will consist of Advent scripture readings beginning with Old Testament prophecies and concluding with the Gospel. The readings, proclaimed by various members of the Trinity community, will be interspersed with carols performed by the Choir of Men & Women and Trinity Choristers, including works of Simon Lindley, Paul Manz, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Palestrina, and others.

The Trinity Choristers is a growing and vibrant 19-voice choir of boys and girls from Newtown and surrounding communities, under the auspice of the Royal School of Church Music. Both the Choristers and the Choir of Men & Women are led by choirmaster Fiona Smith Sutherland, who has trained hundreds of boys and girls in choral singing in Westchester and lower Fairfield Counties.

Ms Sutherland invites all boys and girls who love to sing to consider joining this talented group. Admission is rolling, so singers are welcome at any time of the year.

During Sunday’s Advent service, all will be invited to join in singing familiar tunes such as “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” and “Lo, he comes with clouds descending.” All proceeds from the freewill offering will support Newtown Youth & Family Services.

The church is located at the flagpole, 31 Main Street.

For more information about the service or the choirs at Trinity contact Fiona Sutherland at 426-9070, extension 11, or MusicMinister@TrinityNewtownCT.org.
