To the Editor:

Thank you, Newtown! With your generous donations, FAITH was able to provide a record 110 full Thanksgiving meals. Every family received a turkey or ham, all the trimmings, dinner rolls, fresh fruit, plus a pie for dessert!

We could not have done this alone! We received many donations; food drives held by our local firefighters (a huge thank you to Karin Halstead for coordinating), donations from Newtown schools, teachers, and administrative staff; from local groups and organizations, local businesses, our donation boxes all over town, plus all the items that came in through our Amazon wish list. Those items went into the bags for our clients last week!

While we are not able to thank everyone personally, we need to thank the Knights of Columbus, Newtown Cheer, and the NHS Marching Band for providing enough pies needed to fulfill our wish lists. Thank you to Dave Ackert of Maple Craft Foods for providing a jar of cranberry sauce for every one of our families. Thank you to our anonymous benefactor, who provided over 22 cases of fresh turkeys for our clients.

Thank you to Ingrid Schneider of Villarina’s Pasta Shop of Newtown, and Steve Ford of Butcher’s Best, for your overwhelming support, not only at the holidays but throughout the entire year.

One last shout-out goes to our amazing group of volunteers who helped us prepare, bag up and distribute the 110 meals. Bonnie and Dylan, as always, we couldn’t have done this without you!

FAITH celebrated our 40th anniversary this year, and we are now serving over 500 residents per month. We are able to continue our work thanks to the kind and generous residents of the Newtown community.

With gratitude,
