To the Editor:

When [Newtown resident] Andrea Andrew (I have known her since she was a kid) found out that her mom was hosting a wedding shower for me, she wanted to be a part of it and started collecting all sorts of decorations to create a festive occasion. (See The Newtown Bee, November 13, 2020, “Members Of Newtown Buy Nothing Chapter Prove There Is ‘Nothing Greater Than Love.’”) So many of you felt the excitement and joy and wanted to get involved and contribute toward that end. Thank you so much for all that you did. We now have a bond of friendship with all of you that Bruce and I shall always cherish.

Well, the wedding was this past Saturday. It was a windy and rainy day but that did not dampen the mood at St. Andrew’s R.C. Church and the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, L.I., New York where the wedding and our small COVID-19 socially distant luncheon were held. I was honored to have Bruce’s 100-year-young dad walk me down the aisle. I used the crocheted wedding cake as a centerpiece at the luncheon. It was a huge success both with our guests and other guests at the hotel. I called it our ultimate sugar-free wedding cake!

In spite of the weather our special day was absolutely perfect. The joy that so many of you expressed because of our joy in this little bit of normalcy during such a difficult time, was the best wedding gift anyone could ever ask for.

Thank you, Newtown, so much for your kindness and caring.

Fondly,

Margit Johnson and Bruce Boziwick
