Early Deadlines & Holiday Closings: Christmas & New Year’s

Two upcoming issues of The Newtown Bee will have early deadlines due to Christmas and New Year’s Day. The print edition of December 25, 2020 will be mailed Wednesday, December 23, and the print edition of January 1, 2021, will be mailed December 30, so that the USPS can deliver the papers to local subscribers ahead of each holiday.

Real Estate display ads must be received by 10 am Friday, December 18, to be included in the Friday, December 25 paper. Real Estate display ads for January 1 must be received by 9 am Monday, December 28.

The following deadlines will be in effect both weeks:

Regular display ads are due by Monday at 10 am.

Classified ads for will be due by 1 pm Tuesday.

Items for the Business, Education (including Birthday Cake), Enjoy, Health, and Religion pages must be received by noon Monday.

Letters to the Editor and Community Calendar listings must be received by noon Tuesday.

General news items must be received by 4 pm Tuesday.

The office of The Newtown Bee will be closed December 25 and January 1. It will reopen at 8 am December 28 and January 4.

Holiday Closings And Other Schedule Changes

All town offices and agencies will close at noon Thursday, December 24, and remain closed until 8 am, Monday, December 28.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will close at 11 am December 24. It will remain closed Christmas Day, and reopen December 26, at 7 am.

According to the Town of Newtown, recycling normally picked up on Friday will be picked up Saturday for the two holiday weeks.

C.H. Booth Library will close at 1 pm Christmas Eve and remain closed Christmas Day. It will reopen December 26 at 10 am.

The same schedule will be followed the following week, for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, for town offices, the transfer station, and the town library.

Newtown’s public schools will have early dismissal from the current remote learning model on Wednesday, December 23, and then be closed through Friday, January 1. Classes will resume Monday, January 4.

FAITH Food Pantry will be closed December 24 and December 31.

In addition, there will be no mail delivery on December 25 or January 1; both are United States Postal Service holidays.

Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicle offices will be closed Christmas and New Year’s Day. They will open at 8 am December 26 and January 2.
