Letters To Santa Via NYFS Express

The postal system can be overwhelmed this time of year. What is a child to do, to make sure that their letter gets to the North Pole?

Newtown Youth & Family Services, 15 Berkshire Road, decided to help this year by using their extraordinary powers to contact Santa Claus. A mailbox set up in front of The Toy Tree on Church Hill Road the past several weeks provided local youngsters with the means to get in touch with old St Nick; and then the staff of Newtown Youth & Family Services went out of their way to make sure that Santa received all the notes sent to him via the special mailbox.

Santa Claus was kind enough to share with The Newtown Bee some of the letters he has received. Painstakingly penned (some with more assistance than others), the young letter writers shared with Santa some of the fun things they have done in 2020, as well as what they hope he will carry down the chimney with him this holiday season to place under their trees.

“I pot the trimns on the Crism tre,” wrote one 6-year-old, before adding the wish list of “squishys kit, sewing food kit, Legos, drawing stuff, tape, cottan balle,” and again, “squishys.”

Going to school, doing math, coloring, and reading were fun to do, another 6-year-old wrote to Santa, with a wish for new Legos, poems, and coloring books.

A shark and a “rasing game” were among the big wishes in another letter to Santa. This curious writer also had a question for the top elf: “How do you et so mene cooces in one day?” — And cleverly turned the question mark into a candy cane.

Another letter writer requested among other items, an “RC Mega Grave Digger ATV” and the “Flying Customs Sto & Go Track Set,” along with Hot Wheels cars. “P.S. Bring Batteries!” Santa was wisely reminded.

Faith in the magic of Santa Claus was apparent in the requests of two letter writers. A request for a trampoline — pretty tame — also included a wish for a unicorn, with the assurance that this child had been “Very Good” this year.

A unicorn was also on the wish list of another 3-year-old, along with a mermaid dress, Anna dress, puzzles, and games.

No matter how big or small the wish, no matter how long or short the list, NYFS staff want kids to know that Santa read every letter, and wishes everyone the happiest of holidays.

May all the wishes come true!
