To the Editor:

I would like to convey my feelings of shock and dismay regarding Marilyn Place’s announcement of her resignation. This news coming before the holiday, and especially before the completion of our new Senior Center, causes me to wonder what the real story is! I’ve been a member of the Senior Center for many years, and in all that time, I witnessed a dedicated and loyal director who did her utmost to please everyone. Her constant goal was looking into new programs and interests to satisfy the many seniors who attended the center. I feel very sad to know she will not be a part of the new center after she has dedicated almost thirty years in an overcrowded and inadequate meeting place. I know for a fact there are numerous seniors who feel the same as I do. Unfortunately, Newtown is losing a very dedicated and loyal director, and I think we can agree she is irreplaceable.
