ON THE ROAD FOR OCTOBER 24
Tickets for the WALLFLOWERS show mentioned here last week will be going on
sale Friday morning at 10 am. That's this Friday, as in October 24.
The show is November 23 at the O'Neill Center - that's the athletic events
auditorium building on the westside campus of Western CT State University in
Danbury. O'Neill Center tickets are available through TicketMaster (744-8100).
TREADMILL TRACKSTAR's New York City gig as part of an Atlantic Records new
artists showcase last week was a major success, I hear. We're always very
interested in Trackstar happenings thanks to a strong Newtown connection with
band member Angelo Gianni. The guitarist and lead vocalist for Treadmill
Trackstar, Angelo grew up here but has since relocated to South Carolina,
where the band is out of.
Following on the heels of last week's show is the release of the band's newest
album, due in record stores next Tuesday (October 28). The album will be
available not only in stores, but via the Internet. The band has a home page
on the Web, with a bit of the band's history, photos and an ordering list of
band related material, including their first album, Excessive Use of the
Passive Voice . Find Treadmill for yourself next week, or check the band out
at treadmilltrackstar.com
PAULA COLE, fresh from her summer of touring with The Lilith Fair and now on
the road on her own, will be returning to Connecticut on November 30 for a
solo performance at Toad's Place in New Haven. Rapture!
Cole was certainly one of the highlights of the Lilith Fair when it pulled
into Hartford this past summer. The only bad part about the Fair was the with
so many different musicians being showcased on the same bill, it meant
abbreviated sets by each performer. This new tour of hers gives Cole's fans a
much more concentrated opportunity to see Cole, her vibrant personality on
stage, and hear works from her current album, This Fire , as well as her
previous solo release, Harbinger .
Cole's show will be open to fans of all ages, by the way.
Another addition to the Toad's Place calendar, JOHN HIATT & THE NASHVILLE
QUEENS, November 9. A new artist, SHERRI JACKSON, opens that one. RIC OCASEK
has also been added to the calendar at Toad's Place, for a November 17 show.
Mollycoddle will open PAT BENATAR's show when she plays her only Connecticut
date on her current schedule, November 2.
WHY, when lunch hour and rush hour traffic always has been and always will be
at the same time of the day Monday through Friday, do managers of grocery
stores/post offices/banks insist on putting one cashier/teller at the counter
during lunch hours and rush hours?! (In the same vein, why do grocery stores
continue to put so many cash registers into the front of a store, when all of
those registers are never going to be put to use at the same time??)
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road, or waiting on line
somewhere.
