Return From The Hunt-Dumouchelle

DETROIT, MICH -- DuMouchelle Art Galleries' February sale was highlighted by
an exceptional oil on canvas by Heinrich Burkel entitled, "Return From the
Hunt." Many bidders from around the country vied for this spectacular painting
which surpassed the pre-sale estimate and commanded an impressive $50,000.
Other items included a Nineteenth Century continental oil on canvas that
sparked spirited bidding and landed a $2,500 bid; an antique Keshan prayer rug
from the 1920's era brought $2,750, and a pair of Carl Thieme Saxonian
Potschappel porcelain urns from 1890, $2,850.
A beautiful late Nineteenth Century French bronze and marble clock retailed by
Tiffany and Co. sold for $3,500. A collection of Tom Mix circus posters
surpassed pre-sale estimates, one lot clinching a $5,000 bid, a Carrara marble
female nude, signed E. Pasquin Ouercetta Lucca, achieved a $4,000 bid, and an
exquisite emerald and diamond ring sold for $6,000.
Furniture made a definite statement with the John and Joseph Meeks "Stanton
Hall" rosewood settee bringing $4,750; an American Empire style oak china
cabinet from the 1900's, $2,250, and an Edwardian carved mahogany sideboard,
$1,300.
These are hammer prices and do not include the 15 percent buyer's premium.
