ON THE ROAD FOR AUGUST 8
Those guys from Newtown that won the Radio 104 Modern Rock Wars a few months
back, MIND TYDES, have released their own album. Against The Tide is now out
and you can probably find a copy of the album if you get out to support either
of the band's upcoming shows. Mind Tydes plays at The Webster Theatre in
Hartford next Friday night (Aug 15), and then at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury on
August 21. These guys are good. They play their own music, with a lot of
energy, and are worth going out to see.
The latest addition to the calendar at The Meadows has PANTERA playing the
Hartford venue on Friday, September 12. Tickets are already on sale for this
show (call Pro-Tix, 860/422-0000; or visit any Strawberries story), and all
tickets are $23. There are a limited number of mosh pit tickets for this show,
a fun, but rare happening at The Meadows. All you need to do is request a mosh
pit ticket when you buy your regular tickets for the show. The mosh pits are
closely watched at The Meadows, so if you don't have a ticket, you most likely
are not going to be sneaking in.
Machine Head and Coal Chamber open this one.
Tickets for the INXS concert at The Beacon Theatre in New York City went on
sale Monday morning, which means the band's Connecticut show should be going
on sale soon as well. The only thing is, last news from the band had the
location of a late September show up in the air. Originally planned for The
Webster Theatre in Hartford on the 22nd, there has been talk about the show
moving over to Wallingford, where The Oakdale's larger stage could better
handle the band's sizable show. Whatever.
An interesting note from the New York show: When fans were buying tickets,
only those charging by phone were able to buy any of the seats in the first
ten rows. Even if someone were first in line at the theatre's box office, the
best they could hope for was something in the 11th row. That doesn't sound
right to me.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
