Toastmasters Group May Be Launched

Ashlar of Newtown and the Newtown Chamber of Commerce are exploring the possibility of forming a Toastmasters Club in Newtown.

Toastmasters is a club in which members have an opportunity to learn skills to help them feel more comfortable with public speaking.

The meetings offer a face-to-face experiential learning program in which participants learn to relax, plan, and present terrific speeches, whether they have 10 days to prepare or just 10 seconds.

The meetings are friendly, comfortable, and offer an environment where everyone is there for the same reason – to become better communicators.

A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about one hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice public speaking skills.
