Helen A. Werbeck

Loved And Respected

Helen Werbeck, 91, died April 3, in Wilmington, N.C. She was born in Jersey City, N.J., January 16, 1919, where she met her husband and lived until moving to Ridgewood, N.J. in 1954.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Robert Werbeck of Newtown; loving mother of Gary Werbeck and his wife, Barbara, of Newtown and Cindy Weaver and her husband, Tracy, of Wilmington; and the sweet grandmother of five grandchildren.

Mrs Werbeck was the department manager for Lord & Taylor in Paramus Fashion Center while living in Ridgewood. She and her husband moved to Newtown in 1970, where she worked as a store manager in Just Looking Women’s Clothing Store.

She moved to Wilmington in 1989, following the death of her husband.

Mrs Werbeck was funny, always stylish, and almost always right. She believed in the power of education and the power of love. She was respected and loved by her children and grandchildren, and esteemed by her peers. All who knew her will dearly miss her.

A memorial service will be held graveside at Newtown Village Cemetery, Elm Drive, Newtown, Saturday, May 1, at 3 pm.
