Tour And Sketch Osborne Homestead’s Colonial Revival Gardens

DERBY — A summer program at Osborne Homestead, being presented three times between now and September, will allow participants to enjoy a walk through the homestead’s historic gardens, learn about Colonial Revival Gardens, and then take time to sketch an arbor, sundial, house, or garden.

The free program will be offered on Saturdays, July 21, August 18, and September 15. Each will run from 10:30 am until noon, and they are geared for ages 12 and older.

Registration for any of these dates can be done by calling 734-2513.

The Osborne Homestead Museum is open for free guided tours on Thursdays and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm, Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm, and Sundays from noon to 4 pm. There is no admission cost; donations are gratefully accepted. The museum, which is part of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Environmental Education, is at 500 Hawthorne Avenue (off Route 34).
