Summer Enrichment Programs Available
Newtown Continuing Education is offering summer enrichment courses this summer. Summer Shorts will be offered from July 9 to July 27 from 9 am to noon at Head Oâ Meadow School.
Students can learn to speak French during the first week â July 9 â 13 in Parlez Vous Francais? Students will take an imaginary field trip to a French speaking country. They will learn proper greetings, and discuss numbers, colors, the weather and more. The course will explore the culture through song, dance, games, skits and other hands-on activities. The fee for this course is $89.
There will be a puppet class offered the week of July 16 â 20. Students will explore their creative imaginations and become puppeteers. They will learn how to make different kinds of puppets, and act favorite stories. The puppets will be simple rod puppets, hand puppets and finger puppets. The fee for this course is $89.
Summer Shorts for Kâs and Oneâs is for children currently in kindergarten and first grade. The dynamic programs will enhance skills in areas of language arts, math, science and social studies as well as art, music and physical education. The course is a three part series on specific themes designed to entertain and challenge the students. The following are the themes that will be covered: Week 1, July 9 â 13, Dinosaur Discoveries; Week 2, July 16 â20, Insect Investigation; and Week 3, July 23-27, Weather Wonderment. The fee for each week is $89.
