SNAPSHOT: JOCELYN GRANT

Occupation: As a counterperson at Dunkin Donuts, I am building a new life for

myself in a new community in a new state. Eventually, I would like to become a

therapist or counselor and work to save lives.

Family: My mother lives in Long Island, my father lives in Monroe, and my

sister lives in Columbus, Ohio.

Pets: One day I will have a kitty.

Biggest Change in Town: I am still new to town, having only lived here for 17

months. It would be difficult for me to gauge any changes, but I think that

Newtown is a lovely place to live. It reminds me of the Bayville and Locust

Valley area of Long Island where I was raised.

Hobbies: I love to sing and can sing both the alto and soprano parts.

Books: I'm a born-again Christian and spend a good deal of my time reading the

Bible. One of my favorite verses comes from the Gospel of Matthew where Jesus

tells his disciples that "not a sparrow falls to the earth and God does not

know it." For me, that verse reflects God's omniscience and love.

Movies: Stand by Me, which deals with growing up in a small town and staying

together even as lives change, is one of my favorite movies.

Personal philosophy: There is a purpose to life. That purpose may not be

initially manifest, and it may not be made manifest for quite some time, but

it is there.
